Hey there,
Just wanted to tell you a little bit about how the tour is going.
We started out in Charlotte, NC to
play a couple of pre-Frampton shows. The first stop was an in-store
performance at The Record Exchange. It was probably too
soon after our 10 hour drive the night before (getting us in
at 3:00am) to play a really great show, but we had fun.
Next we played at Jillian's in Charlotte, NC. The show
went well, the people loved the music, and we sold a lot of CD's
and T-shirts.
The next show was at The Record Exchange in Raleigh, NC. This was a really small store but we managed
to set up our gear without stepping on each other too much. It's
always a good rehearsal for us to play semi-unplugged in a store
so that we can focus more on listening to each other. This helps
iron out sections of songs and tighten up harmonies.
Then it was off to Jillian's in
Raleigh, NC. This time we played outside. The night was beautiful.
We played all night long. The crowd was great, the people at
Jillian's took great care of us, and we are hoping to come back
soon. Then the Frampton shows started. Our first night was the
House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC. Great club. We played
well, got a great response from the audience and then went out
front so that we could watch the master in action. Peter and
the boys rocked the house. They are such a tight band. But the
best part of their performance is that they look like they are
having such a good time up there together. The fact is, they
are. Those guys have such a great friendship off the stage that
it really comes through on the stage. We took notes, discussed,
and made sure to make our next show even better.
We then went to Panama City, FL.
To play a club called Spinnakers. It's an outdoor beach
club with a small roof over the stage area. They tell me that
there used to be a stage out on the water but due to noise complaints
they have to move it. Good thing tough, because in the middle
of our set it started to pour. Most of the audience tried to
squeeze as close to the stage as possible trying to stay dry.
The sound man had to work from under a tarp. (I don't think I
saw him all night.) But fans are hardcore. Some people just stood
out in the rain and watched the rest of the show. Peter acknowledged
us from the stage and said, "Wasn't Eric Stuart great, he's
my protegee, I'm going to make him big!" That was truly
a special moment.
Then it was off to New Orleans,
LA. We played the Virgin Megastore on June 21st. The
people there were great. They set up a nice area for us, put
up posters everywhere and played the CD over and over again after
we finished to help us move merchandise.
The it was the House of
Blues. First of all, as a musician, there are certain
places you want to say that you have played. Nashville, which
I have done many times, and New Orleans. Now we would
be playing New Orleans at none other than the House of Blues.
The show was killer. We packed the place. We found out that the
show sold out at 9:00. There is a wall backstage that has the
names of the acts that have sold out painted on it. It was a
great honor to know that we would now be part of that tradition.
Then we played Tower Records
in New Orleans the next
day. We we're exhausted, but played well. The Tower people really
pushed out stuff and we sold a lot of CD's that day. (John Regan,
who is playing bass with Frampton, commented after walking into
Tower, "Your face is all over this town, Eric!)
Then we flew to Oklahoma City, OK (or tried to!
11 hours, and two landings in other cities, due to storms
in Oklahoma City airport. -
click here to see Mason and Eric in the airport!) We played
at a club called the Diamond Ballroom the fans we're great.
After the show the band went to a local bar and played a couple
of songs. This was a great way to get a sense of the local flavor.
And boy, what a flavor!
On our day off from the Frampton tour, we went to Kansas City,
MO. to play the Westport Coffe House, a place I played
solo the when I was out on the road with Skynyrd. It was a nice
night of music, we met a lot of people and made a bunch of new
fans.
The last show we did was in Wichita,
KS. At club called In Cahoots. This was a serious
roadhouse. (They even had a mechanical bull in the corner
no, I did not try to ride it.) We had a great time. The show
was great, the fans we're very supportive. It's always a real
shot in the arm when people who have never heard of you respond
so well to the music.
Well, I hope I have not rambled on too much. We would just like
to say that everyone has been so kind to us, the venues, the
crew, the fans, and everyone in between, that we can't thank
you enough. We hope to see all the same faces again when we come
back your way.

P.S. Ben had a moment to hang out with

Hi again.
Well we started the second leg of our
tour out west. At the House Of Blues in Las Vegas. The
venue is great it is actually inside of the Mandalay Bay Hotel/Casino.
We woke up the morning of the gig and it was raining. Now when
I say raining I mean flooding, knocking out roads, turning the
beautiful swimming pool outside of our window into a mud bath.
It had not rained like that in Las Vegas for thirty years! As
we we're about to soundcheck we got the word that the show had
been cancelled and rescheduled for August 16th. It would be too
dangerous for people to travel. We understood. But it was disappointing.
Off to L.A.
The House Of Blues
in Los Angeles. We we're looking
forward to this one. The show was sold out. No rain problems
and the crowd was great. We really had a great time that night.
I have played L.A. before and it can be a tough audience but
that night everyone was dancing and screaming and we we're even
asked for an encore. (We didn't play one because we are strict
about time don't want to eat into any of Mr. Frampton's
time now, do we?)
Mason and I then played an acoustic set at The Mint in Los
Angeles before heading up the coast. Both Ben and Bryan went
back to New York to take care of some other business matters
so I was just the two of us for about five days. Next we played
another acoustic show in Santa Barbara in a small club
called NYM. Cool room, nice city. It would have been nice
to hang out for more than one day but we had a gig the next night
in San Francisco. We would be opening for Jerry Miller
(Of Moby Grape). The club, The Last Days Saloon, was a 150 seater bar with a good size stage.
More than enough room for just the two of us. (Mason and I were
doing another acoustic duo show.) The crowd responded well to
the music. Jerry was really nice to us and his band was rockin'.
Then it was off to the big time, Pine
Knob in Clarkston, MI. 15,000+ seater amphitheater. I
had actually played Pine Knob twice before Once with Ringo
and The All-Starrs and once with Lynyrd Skynyrd but only
as a solo act, this would be the first amphitheater show with
the full band. Not only that, but they were filming it for a
high definition DVD (For Peter). There was a lot of stuff going
on that day. Then, of course, it started to rain. The big joke
in our band is that we should call our next album "Rainmaker"
because we have a knack for bring wet weather with us to shows.
I asked the video guys if there was anyway they could 'practice'
on us during our set. They we're so nice about it. They filmed
us that night and I've got to say, it really came out looking
great. (Maybe a video from us?) We had a blast. I though we played
well and the audience was really supportive. We sold more CD's
and T-shirts that night than any other on the tour.
Well now it's a short break for us then we go back out to the
north west Seattle, etc. I promise to give you another
update as soon as I can.
Hope to see you soon,
Eric, Ben, Bryan and Mason.
Hey Everybody,
Well we just got back from playing
the north west. First I played one solo show at a really beautiful
place called Konocti Harbor Resort. It was right on a lake and
surrounded by mountains. I met some really nice people there
and I hope to return one day with the entire band.
Then it was off the Seattle. We played on the pier. The show
was great and the fans were unbelievable. We could not get over
the response. We made a lot of new friends and have a feeling
we will be back that way really soon.
After Seattle is was a quick flight and a short drive up to Sandpoint,
ID. I had never been to Idaho before. What a beautiful part of
the county. We played on what was possibly the best day weather-wise
we have had all tour. We actually had a chance to throw around
the Frisbee during the day(which is rare for our lethargic band.)
We sold a lot of CDs that night. (We actually ran out!) The people
who ran the festival took such great care of us. It's something
we would like to be involved with in the future.
Then it was back to Las Vegas. This was our postponed show at
the House Of Blues. This time the weather was perfect. No rain.
No floods. We played to a sold out room. It was actually simulcast
on the web. (We didn't know until after of course or else I would
have posted that information on our site.) We had a great time
there. Didn't lose any money and I got a really cool poster of
Peter to take home with me! (It has my name on it too, I thought
I deserved to have it.)
Now we are home for a couple of days and then it's on the north
east leg of the tour. Less flying, more driving. Maybe we'll
run into each other somewhere along the way.
I will have another update in a couple of weeks. Thank you for
your support. We really appreciate everything!
Talk to you soon,
Eric, Ben, Bryan and Mason.
Hi Again,
Well we finished up the tour in the
North East. It was nice to be able to drive to each show rather
than fly. First we went up to New Hampshire and played at the
Hampton Beach Casino. It was lovely up there. Great seafood!
Then we had a show in Hyannis, MA at The Cape Cod Melody Tent.
That was a great show also. I had a chance to do a TV interview
and we we're reviewed quite well by two newspapers. The only
strange thing was we played on a rotating stage! We went round
and round during the performance. After the sound-check both
Ben and I had to sit down awhile. After that we went off to Atlantic
City, NJ to play two nights at The Copa Room at The Sands
Hotel. That was very nice. The Hotel is really great. Nice
rooms, good food. It was an easy place to hang out in. The shows
we're good, but too short. They mad us both (Peter and us) cut
our performances shorter so that the people would go back out
on to the casino floor and gamble. That's how they do it. Then
it was back up to Quincy, MA to play Waterworks (An appropriate
name since when we got up there it was pouring!) Just in time
for the show it let up enough for us to play. But just as we
finished it poured again. The response was good even though everyone
was getting wet. The final show of the East coast leg was in
Westbury, NY at The Westbury Music Fair. This was really
my only hometown gig on the tour and it was personally my favorite.
Once again we had a rotation stage (not my favorite part) but
after our show, Peter invited Mason and me to join them on stage
for their last two songs. We got to sing "You Had To Be
There" and the Humble Pie classic "I Don't Need No
Doctor". It was definitely the best part of the summer.
Well now we are planning to go into the studio in the beginning
of November and finish the full length album. It should
be out by the new year. Keep an eye out for it!
Thank you to everyone at every show
for the way you treated us. It's not easy being an unknown artist
and you really made us feel great. We hope to see you all again
next summer when we go out on tour again.
Eric, Ben, Bryan and Mason.
